The Month of August

Well, here we are at the beginning of September ... August is over, the kids are back in school, work is picking up ... stuff.

A lot has happened in this past month. First thing is a new house-guest. A friend of Kelle's is staying with us until she can get on her feet. She came here from North Carolina, Kelle has been conversing with her on Facebook.

About 20 years ago, I stayed with some friends of my mother's in New Hampshire. I was to be the "foot-in-the-door" so the rest of the family could move there from Chicago (and now I'm in Texas, figure that one out). I stayed with them for about four months, and keep in mind that I had only met them twice before the last time was in 1978. Fast forward to 1990 and ... BAM ... I'm living with them in their house.

It hasn't been difficult, at least not yet. We all have our quirks and irritations ... I think I have one, maybe two. We are getting by.

On another note, Katie has a "suitor" named Lance, she has no interest in him ... at all ... thank heavens. Noah wants to destroy him (he is another "suitor" that is actually ok).

Matthew is having a difficult time getting rolling for school. All of the things that we did for him last year don't appear to have been started up this year. Kelle talked to the counsellor at school to make sure things start rolling.

Another Accident on FM 830

There has been another motorcycle accident on FM 830 this 4th of July weekend. I haven't found out all of the details as of this post, but, here is what happened to Katie and myself (Katie was with me, at the time).

Katie and I had run out to the store for some last minute items for the weekend (this was Saturday). When we got back (mostly back), we found that we had just missed a motorcycle crashing into an SUV in front of 7 Coves subdivision. There was a fatality last month and one last year at the same time of day. It was about 7:30p and the sun was just over the top of the road (facing west, of course). This time of year and that time of day, you CANNOT see anything headed east-bound.

Katie and I pulled up to the scene right after the ambulance got there. There were police cars all over the place. We go there and were the first in line. you couldn't see anything because the guy was on the ground right in front of the SUV. The SUV was in the turning lane to go into 7 Coves. She didn't appear to be moving (there were no skid marks from the car). The motorcycle skid marks were about 40 feet long. We saw him wriggle his toes as the picked up the backboard and put it on the stretcher.

Last night I was told by Shelly, up the street, that he didn't make it. Something really needs to be done there, although, I admit, I don't know what it could be. First off, he wasn't wearing a helmet or even a shirt. That sucks.

Happy Fourth of July

Listening to the news and hearing about all of the crap that is out there, this might be one of the very LAST American celebrations for Independence Day. Our president (who shouldn't be president because he can't even prove that he was born in this beloved country) is taking our nation apart a substantial chunk at a time. One of the things that frightens me is this ...

As Americans, since December 15, 1791, we have had the RIGHT to bear arms to defend ourselves against tyrany. Tyrants can be in the form of home invaders, threatening our lives, the lives of loved ones and our property. Anyway, the Supreme Court just ruled that Americans have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Good! Here's the problem, the vote was 5 to 4. What the hell is that? it should have been 9 to 0! My country is suffocating, and this country put those people in power.

Sophia's Birthday

Ok. I've been away for a while. Sorry about that. I just keep forgetting that this blog is here. What are you going to do. I have AWANA's tonight. I'm not teaching or anything, I might be in charge of game-time.

I guess we will see. Corey Haim died today. I wiki'ed a picture of him and he looked like a heroin addict. Really bad. He didn't look like HE thought he looked bad, but he really did.

Today is my niece, Sophia's birthday. Happy birthday Sophia. Good luck finding a job Tim and Heather. Have a safe trip going back to Chicago.
